After a crash: your checklist
The first 72 hours matter most.

At the scene
- Get to safety and call 911 if anyone is hurt.
- Ask for a police report and the report number.
- Photograph vehicles, plates, the scene and injuries.
- Get the other driver’s name, license, insurance and witness contacts.
The next few days
- See a doctor, even if you feel okay.
- Keep every bill, receipt and missed-work note.
- Report the claim to insurers, but don’t give the other driver’s insurer a recorded statement.
- Don’t post about the crash online.
Georgia requires drivers to report crashes with injuries or significant damage to police.
